FAQ

What's the standard UK VAT rate?

20% standard, 5% reduced (some energy and children's items), 0% zero-rated (most food, books). Ascend lets you set per-line rates.

Do I need to file this with HMRC?

Under Making Tax Digital, VAT returns must be submitted through compatible software. Ascend's MTD-compatible VAT export is on the roadmap for 2026.
